An old town in Naka District, central Ibaraki Prefecture. The ruins of medieval Urizura Castle can be found in Urizura, the center of the city. The Suigun Line runs through the town. Rice and field crops are cultivated here. There is Shizu Shrine, which enshrines the god of textile crafts, and Jofukuji Temple. 茨城県中部，那珂(なか)郡の旧町。中心の瓜連には中世の瓜連城跡がある。水郡(すいぐん)線が通じる。米作，畑作を行う。織物工芸の神をまつる静神社，常福寺がある。2005年１月那珂郡那珂町と合併し市制，那珂市となる。14.66km2。9240人（2003）。
