Scottish Highlands

…the Scottish Highlands are a mountainous region in the north of Scotland, in contrast to the lowlands in central Scotland. They are the area northwest of a line that runs from Dumbarton at the mouth of the River Clyde to Stonehaven on the North Sea coast, but do not include the Orkney and Shetland islands or the plains on the east coast of the mainland.
