Also known as a histogram. A graph with rectangular columns. Often used to illustrate frequency distribution, the range of measured values is divided into several intervals, and the frequency of measured values falling into each interval is plotted on the vertical axis, while the measured values divided into intervals are plotted on the horizontal axis, with rectangular columns lined up. This type of graph is highly useful when organizing a large amount of data because it has the following advantages: (1) it clearly shows the distribution state, (2) it clearly shows the presence of outliers, (3) it is convenient for comparing with standards, and (4) it is easy to compare several distributions.

柱状図ともいわれる。矩形状の柱を並べたグラフのこと。度数分布を図示するためにしばしば利用されるもので，測定値の存在する範囲をいくつかの区間に分け，各区間に入る測定値の度数を縦軸に，区間に分けられた測定値を横軸にとって，矩形状の柱を並べて書く。このグラフは多数あるデータを整理する場合に，(1) 分布の状態がよくわかる，(2) 異常値の存在がはっきりする，(3) 規格と比較するのに便利である，(4) いくつかの分布の比較が容易であるなどの利点があるために利用度が高い。
