Seismicity of the Earth

…In the 1930s, together with CF Richter, he defined the magnitude of earthquakes, bringing about great advances in seismology. In 1945, he wrote a book called Seismicity of the Earth, in which he gave the famous formula for the frequency of earthquakes by magnitude. In 1959, he published Physics of the Earth's Interior, summarizing his many years of research into the structure of the Earth's interior.
