separatist

Japanese: separatist
separatist

...In the original terminology, Protestants who remained within the Church of England established by Elizabeth I but could not agree with its worship services or church governance and refused to adhere to the Church of England were called "nonconformists." Protestants who left the Church of England to form separate congregations and advocate the separation of church and state were called "separatists." Furthermore, Protestants who were granted the legality of religious associations outside the Church of England by the enactment of the Act of Toleration (1689) after the Glorious Revolution were called "dissenters." However, the distinction between the first and third terms is not strict, and in Japan the term "nonconformists" is generally used as a general term for the three.
