Sergiev

Changed its name to Sergiev in 1919, Zagorsk in 1930, and to its current name in 1992. Originated as a village that was established around the Troitse-Sergius Lavra, which was founded by Sergius Radonezhsky in the 1340s. The city has been a center of miniature and wooden toy production since ancient times, and has experienced attacks from Tatars, Poland, and Lithuania. …
