Skutterudite

...In the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the north, cobalt is present in the form of thiospinel, such as linnaeite Co ₃ S ₄ and carrollite (Co,Cu) ₃ S ₄ , at a ratio of 1/30 of the copper, and in Zambia in the south, at a ratio of 1/300. Cobalt is combined with arsenic to form cobaltite (Co,Fe)AsS and skutterudite (also called scobaltite) (Co,Ni)As ₃ in silver-cobalt veins (Norway, Sweden, Germany, Canada, etc.). Cobaltite is a mineral that may be pyrite FeS ₂ in which the Fe has been replaced by Co and one of the S ₂ has been replaced by As. Its shape and surface striations are similar to pyrite, but its color is silvery white with a reddish tinge.
