...This rose had the year-round flowering characteristics of the Tea Rose and the large flowers and robustness of the Hybrid Perpetual Rose, so that Tea Roses, Hybrid Perpetual Roses, and even Rosa Foetida were crossed one after another, and these varieties, called Hybrid Tea Roses, became the basis of modern roses. In 1900, J. Pernet-Ducher of France created the Soleil d'Or, a medium-large rose with a deep yellow apricot color, by artificially crossing a double-flowered yellow rose, Rosa Foetida, with a Hybrid Perpetual Rose that blooms in one season. Since then, varieties with yellow-based flower colors such as yellow, orange, birch, and apricot have been created using this lineage as a parent. ...
