...However, in a new agreement in 1973, the Iranian national oil company National Iranian Oil Co. (NIOC) took full control of the operating rights, and all but a certain amount of the crude oil produced was to be sold to the consortium. Algeria nationalized the oil fields from 1967 to 1971, and Venezuela nationalized them in 1976. They built oil industry systems centered on the national oil companies SONATRACH (Société Nationale pour la Recherche, la Production, le Transport, la Transformation et la Commercialisation des Hydrocarbures) and Petrovén (Petróles de Venezuela SA), respectively, but a large portion of the crude oil produced was sold to the former concession holders. Since Indonesia made it clear in the 1960 Mining Law that mineral resources belong to the country, the country has been implementing its own oil policy, such as concluding "operation contracts" and "production sharing contracts" between the state-run oil company Pertamina (established in 1972) and foreign oil companies.
