...Distributed from Hokkaido to Kyushu, the Korean Peninsula, Sakhalin, the Kuril Islands, and China (Central and Tohoku). Spotted wintergreen C. umbellata (L.) W.Barton (English name: spotted wintergreen) has blunt leaf tips, no sawtooth on the lower half, and a densely pubescent ovary. Distributed on the Pacific coast north of Ibaraki Prefecture, Hokkaido, North America, and Europe, and used for medicinal purposes.
