Fishery management entity

...Family-run businesses that own small fishing boats and fishing gear and engage in coastal fishing mainly through family labor. Statistically, this refers to fishing boat fisheries using motorized or non-motorized boats with a total tonnage of less than 10 tons, small-scale fixed net fishing, and the cultivation of seaweed, oysters, yellowtail, wakame seaweed, scallops, and pearls and mother-of-pearl shells with less than 100 rafts. In 1995, there were approximately 155,000 such businesses (approximately 225,000 in 1963), accounting for over 90% of the total number of fishing businesses (businesses that engage in fishing production at sea with the aim of selling the catch for profit or livelihood), but only about one-quarter of the number of fishing boats in terms of tonnage.
