Kairugama - Kairugama

...This event is accompanied by a legend that a man-eating demon was defeated with rice cakes containing iron. At the end of the year, a ritual to exorcise demons called Kairugama is held. It is also said that the god of hearth fire ascends to heaven on December 24th and returns to the earth at the beginning of the New Year.
