A high peak in the central Nepal Himalayas. Its name means "white mountain" in Sanskrit. Located to the west of Mount Annapurna, it is a giant 8,000m peak that had long remained unclimbed, but the first peak (8,167m) was first climbed in 1960 by the Swiss M. Eiselin team.
