Stuparich, C. (English spelling)

...The Trieste Regionalist writers, who belonged to the Saba lineage, led by Silvio Benco (1874-1949), were involved in the Irredentism movement (the movement to recover unrecovered territories), and their works were based on a patriotic spirit. Scipio Slataper (1888-1915), the Stuparich brothers Giani Stuparich (1894-1961) and Carlo S. (1894-1916) volunteered to fight on the Austrian front during World War I, and served in the defense of Trieste's hinterland. Two of them committed suicide before being killed or captured in battle, but they left behind diaries and musings about the tense spirit of the war, shocking the Italian literary world.
