Oshika [town] - Oshika
This former town occupies the southern half of the Oshika Peninsula, Aji Island, and Kinkazan in Oshika District, Miyagi Prefecture. It prospered as a base for coastal whaling, but in recent years, with the strengthening of whaling regulations, it has been shifting to aquaculture and other fishing. It produces oysters, wakame seaweed, nori seaweed, scallops, etc. In April 2005, it was incorporated into Ishinomaki City along with the towns of Kahoku, Ogatsu, Kawanami, Monou, and Kitakami in Monou District. 72.96 km2 . 5,376 people (2003).
