A type of labor service imposed on residents of public manors from the Kamakura period onwards. It is also called Kanto labor service. Shugo and Jito (local lords) would bring their subordinate residents to Kamakura to perform duties such as guard duties in Kamakura, and make them do miscellaneous work. When a Jito (local lord) lived in Kamakura, he would sometimes summon a certain number of laborers from his domain for a limited number of days to perform miscellaneous work. While Kyo-go (laborers) were under the jurisdiction of the manor lord, Kamakura-go (laborers) were under the control and governance of Jito (local lords). After the Northern and Southern Courts period, labor services began to be paid in cash, but as in the example of "Kamakura labor service fee," Kamakura-go (laborers) also gradually began to be paid in cash by residents who wished to reduce their burden.
