Tachisme

... In a broader sense, it also refers to a similar movement that emerged in Europe, especially in France, at roughly the same time as American Abstract Expressionism. This was variously called Art Informel, Lyrical Abstraction, Tachisme, and Hot Abstraction. In Japan, the introduction of French Art Informel in the late 1950s marked an era, and the term Art Informel became common.
