"Briefe, the newest literatur is used" (English: Brief, the newest literatur is used)

...In France, P. Maribault's Spectateur Français (1722-23) and A.F. Prevost's Le Pour et Contre (1733-40) were published one after another, and magazines published by people who fled to the Netherlands after suffering oppression under the Louis dynasty alone numbered 30 by the time of the French Revolution. In Germany, Lessing and M. Mendelssohn were members of the editorial board of the magazine Brief (1759-65), founded by F. Nicolai, and created the tradition of literary magazines. German periodicals, such as the Frankfurter Gelehrten Anzeigen (1772-90), which Goethe helped edit, and the Allgemeine Literatur‐Zeitung (General Literary Press) (1785), which was called "the father of German periodicals," featured literary content more than any other country in Europe.
