Tobit, a Jew living in Nineveh as a captive, goes blind after getting sparrow droppings in his eyes the night he buries the body of one of his compatriots that had been left there. Grieving over his misfortune, he wishes to die. At the same time, Sarah, a daughter of a relative, also prays to God for death, and the angel Raphael is sent to save them both. Tobit's son Tobias is helped by Raphael and on his way to recover money owed to his father by his relatives in Media, he marries Sarah. After returning home with his new wife, he heals his father's blindness by applying fish gall that he had obtained on the way there. ...
