Steel-framed building

Japanese: 鉄骨造建築 - てっこつぞうけんちく

A structure in which the main framework is formed by assembling various steel materials such as steel sections, steel plates, and steel pipes using rivets, bolts, welding, and other joining methods is called steel framed construction, and a building made using steel frames is called a steel-framed building.

Humans began using iron around 5000 BCE, but it was only after the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century that iron began to be used for the main structural components of buildings. Initially, cast iron and wrought iron were used for roof structures and columns in theaters, warehouses, factories, etc.

各種形鋼，鋼板，鋼管などの鋼材を，リベット，ボルト，溶接などの接合手段で組み立てて主要骨組みを構成した構造を鉄骨造steel framed constructionと呼び，鉄骨造による建築を鉄骨造建築という。
［歴史］
　人類が鉄を使い始めたのは前5000年ころからであるが，建築の主要構造部に鉄を用いるようになったのは18世紀の産業革命以降である。最初は劇場，倉庫，工場などの屋根架構材や柱などに鋳鉄や錬鉄が用いられた。
