Ishikoshi [town] - Ishikoshi
A former town in Tome District, northern Miyagi Prefecture. Occupying the lowlands of the Hasama River basin, rice farming is thriving here. Livestock farming is also practiced. The Tohoku Main Line runs through the west, and the Kurihara Rural Railway Line branches off from Ishigoe Station. In April 2005, the town merged with Hasama Town, Tome Town, Towa Town, Nakata Town, Toyosato Town, Yoneyama Town, and Minamikata Town in Tome District, and Tsuyama Town in Motoyoshi District, to become a city, Tome City. 24.87 km2 . 6,223 people (2003).
