...The area including Lake Hibara, Lake Onogawa, and Lake Akimoto, which were dammed lakes created by the mudflow of this explosion, is called the Bandai Plateau (Urabandai Plateau). On the other hand, the southern side, called Omote Bandai, retains its gently conical shape well, and the foothills, such as Suriage Plain, are widely seen. It belongs to Bandai Asahi National Park, and in 1970, the Bandai Gold Line (approximately 18 km long), which runs through the western foot of Mount Bandai and connects Omote Bandai and the Bandai Plateau, was opened, and in 1972, the Bandai Azuma Lake Line (approximately 13 km) which runs through the Bandai Plateau, was opened.
