Serbian politician and historian. As the representative of the Serbian government, he repeatedly negotiated with the Ottoman government, and in 1867, he led the withdrawal of the last Ottoman troops from Serbia. In the 1970s, he served as foreign minister, and in 1978 he represented Serbia at the Berlin Conference, where he campaigned for the recognition of independence. In 1982, he founded the Liberal Party, supported by government officials, and became its leader. In 1989, he became one of the regents, but after 1993 he left politics and devoted himself to writing about the history of Serbian diplomacy.

セルビアの政治家，歴史家。セルビア政府の代表として，再三オスマン帝国政府との交渉に当たり，1867年にセルビアから最後のオスマン帝国軍を撤退させた。70年代には外相を務め，78年のベルリン会議にセルビア代表として出席，独立承認のために活動。82年，政府関係の官僚を支持母体とする自由党を結成し，その指導者となった。89年には摂政の一人となるが，93年以後は政界を去り，セルビア外交史の著作活動に専念した。
