Japanese: ladybug
Ladybug

… [Chokane Hayashi]
[Name and Folklore]
Ladybugs are the most beloved insects in the West. They are nicknamed "ladybug (ladybird)" in English (the latter is an abbreviation of Our Lady's bird), Marienkäfer in German, and "cheval de la Vierge" and "God's insect bête à bon Dieu" in French. The reason this insect is associated with heaven is probably because when you let it land on your finger, it always rises up and flies out from your fingertip, and because of its adorable color and shape.
