Fanta

…the Fante state confederation was formed in the late 19th century on the coast of the Gold Coast (now Ghana) in West Africa. At the time, the region was under British influence, and the Fante nations were in conflict with the Ashanti Kingdom, which was also an Akan Ashanti tribe located inland. In January 1868, the Fante state confederation was formed by Fante chiefs and educated Africans to oppose the British, Dutch, and Ashanti.
