Kiseru Azami - Kiseru Azami

A perennial plant of the Asteraceae family (APG classification: Asteraceae). Also known as Maazaami. The basal leaves are numerous and 15-50 cm long, while the stem leaves are few and small. The plant height is 0.5-1 meter. From September to October, the flower heads open downward at the end of the stem. It grows in wetlands in Honshu and Shikoku. The name comes from the resemblance of the flower heads to a tobacco pipe.

キク科（APG分類：キク科）の多年草。別名マアザミ。根出葉は長さ15～50センチメートルで多数あり、茎葉は少なくて小さい。草丈0.5～1メートル。9～10月、茎の先に頭花を下向きに開く。本州、四国の湿地に生える。名は、頭花のようすを煙管(きせる)に見立てたもの。
