Kolyadka

...Songs related to the agricultural calendar are common to many other Slavic peoples and are thought to be the oldest forms. Kolyadka is a song that accompanies a ritual to celebrate a good harvest, and young people sing it door-to-door in the bitter cold like Christmas carolers. Vesnyanki, sung at Easter, are literally songs about spring and have the magical function of awakening spring.
