Magnetic - Jisei

This refers to magnetic properties. When focusing on the magnetism of an object, the object is called a magnetic material. All materials are magnetized by a magnetic field, and materials in which the direction of magnetization is the same as the magnetic field are called paramagnetic materials, while materials in which the direction of magnetization is the opposite are called diamagnetic materials. A material that has spontaneous magnetization even without the application of a magnetic field is called a ferromagnetic material. A material in which the spontaneous magnetization of two sublattices is the same but directed oppositely and therefore cancels out is called an antiferromagnet, while a material in which the spontaneous magnetization of two sublattices is directed in opposite directions but different in magnitude, leaving a net spontaneous magnetization is called a ferrimagnet.

磁気的性質のことをいう．物体の磁性に注目するとき，物体を磁性体という．すべての物質は磁場によって磁化されるが，このとき磁化の方向が磁場と同じ方向になる物質を常磁性体，反対方向になる物質を反磁性体という．磁場を加えないでも自発磁化をもつ物質を強磁性体という．二つの部分格子の自発磁化の大きさは同じで，互いに反対方向のために打ち消されている物質は反強磁性体，二つの部分格子の自発磁化は反対方向ではあるが，大きさが違うために，差し引き自発磁化が残る物質はフェリ磁性体という．
