The second and third kings, Kirtivarman I and Mangaleśa, the son of the first king, expanded the dynasty's territory, but when a civil war arose over the succession to the throne, Pulakeśin II, the son of the second king, killed his uncle Mangaleśa around 610, put down the civil war, and ascended to the throne.
