Jubrān (English spelling)

...In the short story, after the Romantic school of Mahmud Taymur (1894-1973) and Yahya Ḥaqqi (1905-92), the realist style of writing was perfected by Yusuf Idrīs (1927-91). The Romantic poets, pioneered by Ḥalīl Muṭran (d. 1945) and perfected by others such as Majnī al‐Mājinī (1889‐1949), Shukrī (d. 1958), 'Abbās Maḥmūd al‐'Aqqād (1889‐1964), and Jubrān (d. 1931), sought personal liberation from traditional shackles. Realistic poetry was initiated in 1947 by Nāzik al‐Malā'ika (1923‐ ) and Sayyāb al‐Sayyāb (d. 1964).
