…The mountain range belongs to the Dinaric Alps, and most of it was uplifted in the Tertiary Period, with many deep gorges and rapids. The northern part is a mountain range and plateau with an elevation of 1,500 to 2,500 meters, also known as the Northern Albanian Alps. The highest peak is Mount Jezerce (2,692 meters) on the border with Montenegro. Lake Shkodër, the largest in the Balkans, is located on the border with Montenegro.
