Union Officer - kumiai yakuin

Japanese: 組合役員 - くみあいやくいん

This refers to a person who holds a leadership position in the labor union movement, discusses, decides and carries out the execution of union business. In Japan, this usually refers to the executive chairman, deputy executive chairman, secretary-general, executive committee members and accounting auditor. Union officials excluding the accounting auditor make up the executive committee, and the executive chairman, deputy executive chairman and secretary-general are called the three union officials. The executive chairman is the union's representative externally and oversees all union activities as the highest-ranking person in the executive committee within the union. The secretary-general oversees the secretariat, which carries out the daily work of the executive committee, and provides guidance and supervision of its work.
