A village in Kunohe County in northeastern Iwate Prefecture. Population 6,411 (1995). Bordering Kuji City to the southeast, it is located in the center of the Kunohe Plateau, and the southern part is mountainous, at the northern end of the Kitakami Highlands, with Mount Kujihira in the northeast. There is a small amount of cultivated land along the Arie River and the Ono River, but as it is in a cold damage zone, it suffers from late frosts in late May, storms in the summer, and sea fog. In addition to cultivating rice and miscellaneous grains, dairy farming is also carried out. [Matsuhashi Koji] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
