Massif central

Japanese: マシフ・サントラル(英語表記)Massif central
Massif central
The mountain range and plateau are distributed from central to southern France. They are also called the Central Massif or Plateau Central, and cover one-sixth of the entire French territory (approximately 85,000 km2). They face the Paris Basin to the north, the Aquitaine Basin to the west, the Rhône River and its tributary the Saône River to the east, and the Languedoc Plain to the south. The geology of the mountain range is ancient, having been subjected to Hercynian folding in the Paleozoic era and peneplaining in the Mesozoic era, resulting in small relief, but since the beginning of the Tertiary period they have been uplifted and subjected to faulting and volcanic activity.
