A former town in Ono County, southern Oita Prefecture. Most of the area is the Aso lava zone on the slopes of Mt. Yoroi, and field farming is thriving. Beef cattle breeding and tobacco leaf cultivation are active, and rice and sericulture are also carried out. National Route 57 crosses the center of the town. In March 2005, it merged with Mie Town, Ogata Town, Asaji Town, Inukai Town, Kiyokawa Village, and Chitose Village in Ono County to become a city, Bungo-Ono City. 109.49 km2 . 5,696 people (2003).

Ono [town] [Oono]

A former town in Saiki District, western Hiroshima Prefecture. The town is connected by the Sanyo Main Line, Hiroshima Electric Railway Line, and Hiroshima-Iwakuni Road, and is a gateway to Miyajima. Most of the town area is forest. Industries include liquor, dairy products, and concrete, and oyster and clam farming is thriving. The number of commuters to Hiroshima City and Iwakuni City is increasing. In November 2005, it was incorporated into Miyajima Town, Saiki District, and Hatsukaichi City. 70.75 km2 . Population: 26,660 (2003).

Ono [town] [Oono]

A former town in Kameda-gun, Hokkaido. Located in the Oono River basin, in the center of the Hakodate Plain. The Hakodate Main Line runs through it. The town was the first in Hokkaido to attempt rice paddy development (in 1685), and was completed in 1877. Rice, vegetables, and fruit cultivation are thriving. In February 2006, it was merged with Kamiiso-cho, Kamiiso-gun, to become a city, Hokuto City. Area: 134.88 km2 . Population: 11,145 (2003).

Ono [town] [Oono]

A town in Ibi County in the southwest of Gifu Prefecture. It occupies the northwestern part of the Nobi Plain, producing vegetables and grains, and is known for its Fuyu persimmons and pears. Limestone is mined and the cement industry is carried out here. The main settlement is Kurono, where the Meitetsu Ibi Line once ran. 34.20 km2 . Population 23,859 (2010).
