As for Buddhist studies, they have developed rapidly since TWRhys Davids (1843-1922) founded the Pali Text Society in London. In addition, É.C. Senart (1847-1928), S. Lévi (1863-1935), and L. de la Vallée Poussin (1869-1937) have also made significant contributions to Buddhist studies.
