Hydrophobic sol (English spelling)

Japanese: hydrophobic sol(英語表記)hydrophobicsol
Hydrophobic sol (English spelling)

...Hydrosols use water as a dispersion medium, while organosols use organic solvents such as benzene or vegetable oil as a dispersion medium. Among hydrosols, those that are relatively unstable and easily coagulate with the addition of a small amount of electrolyte, such as gold or iron oxide sols, are called hydrophobic sols, while those that are very stable and can only be salted out by the addition of a large amount of electrolyte, such as gelatin aqueous solutions, are called hydrophilic sols. Hydrophobic sols are stabilized by the electrostatic repulsion between the surface charges of the dispersed particles, while hydrophilic sols have a strong affinity for water and are stabilized by the development of a hydration layer on the surface of the dispersed particles.
