...Small species are commonly called Tousumitombo. 27 species are known from Japan, ranging from the 2cm long Agriocnemis pygmaea to the 4.5cm long Cercion plagiosum . All of them live in stagnant water such as marshes, rice fields, and ponds, but are not found in rapids or deep rivers. The A. femina oryzae is found only in the lowlands of the Ryukyu Islands, Kyushu, Shikoku, and Yamaguchi Prefecture.
