Olissipo

Japanese: Olissipo
Olissipo

[history]
Lisbon is said to have originated as a Greek or Phoenician colony, but this is uncertain. At the end of the 3rd century BCE, when it was incorporated into the Roman Empire, it was named Felicitas Julia, instead of Olissipo or Ulysippo. The legend that Ulisses (the Portuguese form of Odysseus) was the founder of the city of Lisboa is often cited as the origin of Olissipo, from which the present-day city name Lisboa was born, but like other theories, there is no certainty.
