In 700, he was promoted to Shohirosan due to his good governance, but died the following year. Emperor Mommu sent an envoy to his private residence and presented him with the title of Minister of the Right, Masahironi. During his lifetime, he had sent Mita no Oze to Tsushima to work on metallurgy and was rewarded for this, but it is said that this was a fraud by Oze. In addition, in 712, when his wife, Ki no Otome, was rewarded for her faithfulness, she was awarded the title of Minister of the Right, Junior Second Rank.
