Expressionist lyric poetry was sparked by a series of poems by Heim, which visualized the anxiety of the big city, and Jakob van Hoddis's (1887-1942) poem Weltende (End of the World). In terms of the strength of its influence on later periods, the scenes of the destruction of the human body depicted in Gottfried Benn's collection of poems Morgue (1912) and the abyss of the soul and dreams of bliss expressed in G. Trakl's poems are particularly notable. Furthermore, the style of poetry developed by Expressionism, known as "parallelism," in which short lines of verse are listed one after the other as if ignoring the context of the preceding and following sentences, is typified by Alfred Lichtenstein's (1889-1914) poem Dämmerung. …
