...In the 1950s, the development of electronic musical instruments progressed rapidly in various countries. In Germany, small reed organ-like electronic melodic instruments such as the Clavioline and the Electronium appeared, and in France a similar instrument called the Odioline was created. In the United States, various electronic organs were considered, and in 1955, RCA's large music synthesizer, invented by H. F. Olson and others, was announced, ushering in a new era of electronic sound.
