A vacuum pump that uses a centrifugal blower on the suction side, and is used for low vacuums, usually called an exhaust fan. Since there is no need for lubricating oil or sealing liquid inside, the discharged air temperature becomes quite high due to the heat of compression, and since it has a large capacity, it can be used for other purposes as a heat source. Since the peripheral speed of the impeller is high, it is dangerous to suck in moisture. Therefore, water separation must be performed reliably using a pre-separator.

遠心送風機を吸込み側で働かせる真空ポンプで，低真空用に用いられ，通常排風機と呼ばれる。内部に潤滑油または封液の必要がないので，圧縮熱のため吐出し空気温度はかなり高温となり，また容量も大きいので，これを熱源として他に利用する場合もある。羽根車の周速度が高いため，水分を吸引することは危険である。そのため，前置セパレータによる水分離を確実に行わねばならない。
