...The glass plates (cliché verre) produced in the second half of the 19th century by landscape painters Corot and T. Rousseau, as well as by Fontanesi, who taught in Japan, were made by exposing photographic paper to light and drawing with a needle directly on a glass plate coated with chemicals. This has the effect of being a photographic print of drypoint (see below). This is different from heliogravure (invented by Karl Klietsch in Vienna in 1875), which uses a metal master plate produced by a photochemical process and then produces the print on a regular pressure press.

…19世紀の後半に風景画家のコローやT.ルソーあるいは日本で教えたフォンタネージたちが制作したガラス版(クリッシェ･ベールcliché verre)とは，薬品を塗ったガラス板に直接に針で描いたデッサンを，印画紙に感光させたものであるから，ドライポイント(後述)を写真的な技法で印刷したものといえるような効果をもつ。これは光化学的過程によって金属原版を制作し，あとはふつうの圧力式印刷機で制作するヘリオグラビアheliogravure(1875年ウィーンのクリーチュKarl Klietsch発明)とは異なるものである。
