In 1940, he was arrested and banned from writing by the Special Higher Police, who viewed the modernism of the new haiku movement as a destruction of tradition and a dangerous ideology (Kyoto University Haiku Incident). After the war, he founded the haiku magazine "Tenro" in 1948, and in his collections of haiku such as "Peaches in the Night" (1948), "Transformation" (1962), and his autobiography "Kobe" (1954), he took up the theme of a sense of crisis about the existence of human beings. ...
