...The highest judicial organ established under Article 76, paragraph 1 of the Constitution of Japan. It is located in Tokyo (Article 6 of the Court Act). The Supreme Court was established on May 3, 1947, when the Constitution of Japan and the Court Act came into force, replacing the Daishin'in. The Daishin'in was established in 1875 and became a court that heard appeals against general trials under the court system enacted in 1886. However, under the Constitution of the Empire of Japan promulgated in 1889 and the Court Composition Act enacted the following year, it came to have the character of the highest authority in judicial action based on the independence of the judicial power. ...
