Such art of non-Iranian peoples was inherited by the Aryans (Iranian peoples) who invaded and settled on the Iranian plateau in the second half of the second millennium BCE, and further developed and pursued art that combined decorativeness and realism. Art from the end of the second millennium BCE to the first half of the first millennium BCE is known from metalware, earthenware (polished earthenware, figurative earthenware) and other crafts excavated from ancient tombs in the mountainous areas of northwestern Iran and the south coast of the Caspian Sea, such as Luristan (Luristan Bronze Art), Hassanlu, Gibier, and Marlik. These crafts show a clear influence of the art (techniques, images, and style) of advanced countries such as Assyria (Assyrian art), Urartu, and Elam, but their depictions of animals and humans show a superior sense of form. ...
