Harbor News Association

It originated in 1848 when six New York newspapers jointly formed the Harbor News Association to jointly gather European news from ships entering New York Harbor, and in 1857 it was reorganized to become the New York AP. After that, several news agencies linked to the New York AP were formed in the United States, but the Western AP, which was formed in Chicago in 1859, became the most powerful.
