Osaka City University

It is a public university corporation. It originated from Osaka Commercial Training School, which was established in 1879 (Meiji 12). In 1949 (Showa 24), it became a new university under the new system with the former Osaka University of Commerce (Osaka City), Osaka Municipal Miyakojima Technical College, Osaka Municipal Women's College, and other institutions as its parent organizations. Later, in 1955, it merged with Osaka City Medical College to form the School of Medicine. In 2006 (Heisei 18), it became a public university corporation. As of 2010, it is the largest public comprehensive university with eight faculties: commerce, economics, law, literature, science, engineering, medicine, and life science. All eight faculties (except for the commerce faculty, which has a business administration graduate school) have graduate schools (master's and doctoral programs), and there is also a creative city research graduate school (master's and doctoral programs) and a nursing graduate school (master's and doctoral programs). It has an auditing student system and a research student system to provide opportunities for citizens to study. Its affiliated facilities include an affiliated hospital and a mathematics research institute. The addresses are 3-3-138 Sugimoto, Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka and 1-4-3 Asahi-cho, Abeno-ku, Osaka.

公立大学法人。1879年（明治12）設立の大阪商業講習所が起源。1949年（昭和24）旧制大阪商科大学（大阪市立）、大阪市立都島工業専門学校、大阪市立女子専門学校などを母体として、新制大学となる。のち1955年に大阪市立医科大学を合併して医学部とした。2006年（平成18）公立大学法人となる。2010年時点で、商学、経済学、法学、文学、理学、工学、医学、生活科学の8学部をもつ公立最大の総合大学である。8学部（ただし商学部は経営学研究科）のすべてに大学院（修士・博士課程）が置かれ、さらに創造都市研究科（修士・博士課程）、看護学研究科（修士・博士課程）もある。聴講生制度や研究生制度を設けて市民に修学の機会を開いている。付属施設に附属病院、数学研究所などがある。所在地は大阪市住吉区杉本3-3-138および同市阿倍野(あべの)区旭町1-4-3。
