...Seeds are easily obtained through self-pollination, and seedlings are also easy to grow. The golden-banded lily, L. auratum Lindl. (illustration) is a Japanese specialty found in the mountains from the Tohoku to Kansai regions. It could be called the king of lilies, and blooms huge, broad, funnel-shaped flowers some twenty centimeters long, with a strong fragrance that can be suffocating in a closed room.
